PORTRAIT OF MICHEL ROSTANG
Michel Rostang was born in Grenoble, son of Jo Rostang, himself today a three star Michelin chef in Antibes (La Bonne Auberge). He left the family circle very early on life to make his name in Paris (training at Lasserre and Lucas Carton) and opened his first restaurant in 1978 at the age of 20 in Rue Rennequin in the 17th arrondissement. In 1979 he was awarded his first star and a second in 1980 for his cuisine rich in savour and taste. Michel Rostang loves the interaction of creative cuisine and good old family cooking. He is a lover of all things natural and one simply has to taste his cooking to gain an insight into the magical balance between the fundamentals of classic cuisine and the contemporary sparkle of his personal touch. He loves communicating the union between cooked and raw produce, crispy and soft textures, the land and the sea… and tirelessly promotes the qualities of regional produce with a soft spot for Provence, through his elegant and generous cuisine.
His motto is simple: “To taste the best things in life”.
